Meet Dr. Lorin Kaplan
“I am thankful to have a career which has allowed me to work with such amazing people and give my patients beautiful smiles and healthy bites.” – Dr. Kaplan
Dr. Kaplan was born and raised in Marin County and is thrilled to be back in his home town to serve his community with excellent orthodontic care. A graduate of San Rafael High School, Dr. Kaplan attended the University of California, Berkeley for his undergraduate education.
Since he has family roots in Chicago, Dr. Kaplan enjoyed his time at Northwestern University Dental School. He graduated at the top of his class with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery. After finishing, Dr. Kaplan was exposed to many dental disciplines as a resident at the School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai in New York City. That was when he realized his passion for the field of orthodontics. He moved to San Francisco and attended the University of the Pacific, and received his orthodontic certification and Master of Science in dentistry in 1994.
In an effort to guarantee state-of-the-art orthodontic techniques for his patients, Dr. Kaplan has continued his education to include the most current applications of technology such as Invisalign® and the Damon® Smile. He is also an active member of several professional organizations that provide continuing education opportunities, including the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the World Federation of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and the Marin County Dental Society.
Dr. Kaplan considers it a privilege to practice orthodontics in his home town and gives back to the community in various ways. He is a Can Do! business partner, supports local schools, and is active in Dixie-Terra Linda Little League. He is most proud of his involvement with the Marin County Dental Care Foundation, which provides orthodontic care to those who are less fortunate.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Kaplan enjoys skiing, biking, and spending time with his family. His wife is also a fellow Marin County native and was his childhood sweetheart.
